Pelosi Blatantly Lied Regarding Church’s Teaching on Abortion, So Why Not Misrepresent Hamas, Too?

When it comes to the immorality of killing humans outside of self-defense, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has an amazing ability to discard obvious truth.

First there was her arrogant falsehood in an August, 2008 interview that the Catholic Church, which she claims to belong to, does not know when human life begins: “I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the Church have not been able to make that definition.” Wrong to the nth degree. (1,2,3)

Now we hear this from her:

“And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization.” (4)

This is very interesting considering that “Qatar is one of the few nations in the world that refuses to recognize that Hamas, an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, is comprised of terrorists” and that the U.S. designated Hamas a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 1997 when Pelosi was already a Representative from California. (5)

In addition, Hamas’ “founding charter calls for Jews to be killed and says all Muslims are duty-bound to join a jihad to destroy Israel.” (6)

How is she able to sneak hallucinatory drugs with her into the Capitol?

1 – “Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person –among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.” From paragraph 2270 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Liguori Publications, Liguori, MO, 1994

2 – “Therefore, Natural Law forbids any attempt at destroying fetal life.”
“The teachings of the Catholic Church admit of no doubt on the subject. Such moral questions, when they are submitted, are decided by the Tribunal of the Holy Office. Now this authority decreed, 28 May, 1884, and again, 18 August, 1889, that “it cannot be safely taught in Catholic schools that it is lawful to perform . . . any surgical operation which is directly destructive of the life of the fetus or the mother.” From the Catholic Encyclopedia, http://www.newadvent.org

3 – “David tells us, ‘Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me’ (Ps. 51:5, NIV). Since sinfulness is a spiritual rather than a physical condition, David must have had a spiritual nature from the time of conception.”
“The same is shown in James 2:26, which tells us that ‘the body without the spirit is dead’: The soul is the life-principle of the human body. Since from the time of conception the child’s body is alive (as shown by the fact it is growing), the child’s body must already have its spirit.” Posted on http://www.catholic.com/tracts/abortion

  1. “And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization.”

Are you saying that the Qataris did not tell her that Hamas is a humanitarian organization and she made this up? She doesn’t appear to be making any statement regarding Hamas here, only a statement about what the Qataris said. Is she misrepresenting the Qataris?

    • She was saying that we should look to the Qataris for advice on how to handle Gaza since they claim to really understand the situation. After all, she said the Qataris have assured her that Hamas is really a humanitarian organization. She can’t possibly believe this in light of Hamas’ history. Thanks for reading the article!

      • No, if you look at the whole thing she said we need to consult with them because they have influence and she is stating what they (the Qataris) believe. She also describes Hamas as initiating the attacks and using children as human shields. They do, in fact, do humanitarian work, but so do a lot of terrorist or otherwise harmful organizations. The people who look at them in this light, however, meaning the Qataris, are likely to have more influence. Whether one agrees that using this influence is a good idea is a totally different matter.

      • I’ll join the majority in that Hamas’ overall performance negates any good things they might do for their own. They should be viewed in the same way that Hitler’s murderous actions at home in his concentration camps and in the world at large overrode the improvement he made in his countrymen’s economy and spirits following World War I. The Qataris used to sponsor Hamas so they should have an understanding at what makes them tick, but how could we possibly them?

      • That’s a pretty reasonable opinion on Hamas…and one that Nancy Pelosi may very well hold for all we know. The point is that her comment was in no way a characterization of Hamas.

As for knowing the Qataris, that’s why we have the fields of anthropology, geography, political science and social psychology. You can do a fairly good job of understanding other people and predicting their thoughts and behaviors if familiar enough with their words and actions. Otherwise it would be impossible to know anyone but yourself.

      • I agree that we need to know the opposition before we can work with them in any area, whether it be politics or apologetics. We need more people who care enough as you do to try to dissect the issues beyond what some superficial media outlets give us!

      • I think she meant to concur, instead of confer… she went on to say she had been told “over and over again” which would indicate to agree with what she had already conferred with Qataris over this issue, time and time again, therefore she is agreeing with their assessment. either way, she is asking the wrong people about the nature of Hamas.

      • I disagree, she said she is so stupid that Qataris (Muslim Terrorist sanctuary), has told her “Over and over again” no way to mis read that. Qataris hate the Jews just as much as the Hamas.. so they are going to give an honest assessment? they are the friend of the enemy — which, until Obama pronounced the war on Terror is over. Nonetheless, it is not, and there is no sane reason to make any determination on the character of Hamas based on what Qatar tells us.

      • R.S.,

How does the number of times someone tells you something imply that you believe it? Her point was not regarding Hamas’ moral status, but who has influence with them.

    • Your feelings are certainly understandable! I’m certainly not in a position to judge whether she’s possessed. However, she and others are in line for ex-communication. (For those readers not familiar with the Catholic faith, ex-communication is not an irrevocable condemnation. Only God can do that. Ex-communication is a giant wake up call for the individual who has been obstinately out-of-line, especially for one who is misleading many others on serious matters.)

      • Thanks! I’ll be sure to read some of your works soon. We need to learn from one another how best to present the truths which have been increasingly tossed aside… to the detriment of our society. — Tony
